ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Author of Tide, Feather, Snow: A Life in Alaska, Miranda Weiss grew up in Maryland and now lives in Homer, Alaska.  Her science and nature writing have appeared in The Washington Post, Homer News, Columbia Science Review, and Ice-Floe: A Journal of Poetry of the Far North.

She received a BA in biology from Brown University and an MFA in creative writing from Columbia University.  She is on the staff of the Pratt Museum, a national award-winning museum of the art, science, and culture of Southcentral Alaska’s Kachemak Bay region, and she teaches creative writing at University of Alaska Anchorage — Kenai Peninsula College.
